In an emergency, every second counts. That’s why Vector Security is such a strong supporter of the Automated Secure Alarm Protocol (ASAP) initiative.

The technology automates communication between monitoring centers and public safety answering points (PSAPs)—thereby speeding up alarm notification delivery, processing and emergency response times.

Within seconds, first responders have all the information they need to process and answer an emergency situation. And the information is accurate. When information is electronically submitted, there is less of a chance of incorrect addresses, misspellings and other human errors that could slow response times.

The History

ASAP was developed in partnership with the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) and the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials (APCO), with Vector Security President and CEO Pam Petrow co-chairing the steering committee.

The goal was to modernize the way central stations operate and communicate for improved resident safety and emergency responder success. The program is expanding across many U.S. cities and counties.

Is ASAP Available in My City?

For ASAP to work, both the city and the alarm company must be online in your particularly geographic region. Check with your security provider to find out the availability in your location and/or if plans are in the works for rollout.

Municipalities that have implemented ASAP include Houston, TX; Washington D.C.; James City County, York County and Henrico County, VA; Tempe and Chandler, AZ; Boca Raton, FL; Cary and Guilford County, NC; Denton County and Grand Prairie, TX; and Morgan County, AL; and Durham County and Kernersville, NC (new locations—read more!)

We’re also actively working to get other municipalities and public agencies to invest in ASAP technology, and other security companies to implement it, so that more communities can enjoy the protections afforded.
