Vector Security is First Alarm Company to go Live with Automated Secure Alarm Protocol (ASAP) in Dauphin County, PA

Alarm users benefit from faster, more accurate alarm response.

PITTSBURGH, March 5, 2019 – Vector Security is the first alarm company to go live with Automated Secure Alarm Protocol (ASAP) in Dauphin County, PA on February 26. ASAP is technology designed to automate communication between alarm monitoring central stations and public safety dispatch/911 centers.

Electronic data transmission results in the following benefits for alarm users and first responders:

  • Less phone calls to emergency response centers. Alarm center data is passed to public safety dispatch/911 operators electronically within seconds and then provided to first responders upon dispatch.
  • Quicker processing times. Data doesn’t have to be input manually or communicated verbally, resulting in reduced hold times, less chance of human error, and faster responses.
  • Greater accuracy of information transmitted. Electronic transmission of data reduces chances for errors.

With ASAP delivering alarm notification information directly from central stations to public safety answering points (PSAPs) and public safety dispatch centers via computer rather than by phone, all pertinent data goes directly to first responders and the process takes only about five seconds. Agencies using ASAP can expect alarm response times to potentially drop to as little as a minute and a half or less.

As the first group to go online following the February 26 launch, Vector Security customers in Dauphin County will benefit from improved emergency response times and accuracy via ASAP. The company is excited to offer this technology to the many customers in the county who are served out of its local Lancaster office.

“We are constantly working to provide a safer environment for the public,” said Anita Ostrowski, Vice President of Central Station Services, Vector Security. “We’ve come a long way since being the first alarm company to introduce ASAP to Richmond, VA in 2012, and we are glad to see the technology make its way into more communities across the nation…and especially proud to add a fourth ASAP agency in Pennsylvania, where our company is based.”

Vector Security assisted with the implementation by helping to conduct extensive testing prior to the system going live in Dauphin County.

ASAP was developed following a partnership between The Monitoring Association and the Association of Public Safety, with Vector Security President and CEO Pam Petrow co-chairing the committee.

Nationwide, nearly 60 agencies have implemented, or are in the process of implementing ASAP. For a current list:
